Sacred Heart School

( formerly Springdale School ) was started in the year 1972 by a Managing Board with the Deputy commissioner of Lunglei as its Chairman. In 1978 the Board handed over the school to the Catholic Church, Bishop of Silchar Diocese, now known as the Diocese of Aizawl. It is a Catholic Institution, established, administered and run by the Aizawl Diocesan Education Society ( Regn No. SR/MZ-87 of 2003 - 04 ) for the diocese of Aizawl , primarily meant for the education of the Catholic children and for the others to the extent possible without any discrimination against caste, creed, colour and language. It is an Unaided ( except partly aided by Deficit and Ad-Hoc Provisions ) Private Institution. The school was upgraded as higher secondary school with Science & Arts Stream on 1st June 2017.

Motto

‘ LIGHT TO ALL ’ is the motto of the school, based on a Christian vision and values , where each one finds oneself as a child of God and accept each other as brothers and sisters. It invites every student to acquire a sense of dignity and share a feeling of equality with one another. Thus it prepares everyone to develop an attitude of solidarity and concern , especially for the weaker sections of the society by rising above the differences one encounters in the society.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHOOL

The chief aim of the school is to enable the individual student to know and develop the fullest, their physical, mental, social moral and spiritual potentialities based on the principles of Christian faith so that they can function as responsible members of the society serving God and their fellowmen. It strives to promote patriotism, spirit of national integration, pride in our cultural heritage and a scientific outlook, fellowship, team spirit, service to the community and dignity of manual labour are given its importance along with the intellectual pursuits.

CURRICULUM

The medium of Instruction is English . Hindi is also taught to all the students, as prescribed by the Board. The school Curriculum will be based on the syllabus prescribed by the Mizoram Board of School Education ( MBSE ).The academic Calendar and the programme will be as per the guidelines given by the MACS ( Mizoram Association of Catholic Schools ) and ADES ( Aizawl Diocesan Education Society ). Value Education is taught to all in order to develop the moral and spiritual values in the lives of the students .
